Analytics & privacy choices

Understand essential cookies, basic cookieless measurement and optional analytics.

Cookies, your choice

We use essential cookies to keep LayerWorth working and basic cookieless measurement on public pages. Accept analytics cookies for additional product analytics, or reject optional cookies. Your calculator and account work either way. See what we collect.

Saved choice: not selected. Browser privacy signals can disable both browser analytics modes.

Your choice

We use essential cookies for login and preferences. Before you choose and after you reject optional cookies, basic cookieless measurement counts visits to public pages without storing analytics identifiers on your device or linking activity to your account. Accept analytics cookies to enable additional product analytics and filtered browser error reports. Your calculator, account and billing work either way.

You can change your choice here at any time. Withdrawal stops future account-linked browser and request-based product events; it does not automatically erase events previously received. Basic cookieless public-page measurement continues. Contact privacy@layerworth.com for a data request.

The versioned preference cookie lasts 180 days and is host-only. Staging and production remember separate choices, as do browsers and devices. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals disable both browser measurement modes. Updated consent wording can require a new choice.

Basic cookieless measurement

Only public-page views are measured in this mode, not workspace, account, admin or authentication activity. Events contain the cleaned page route, environment and limited browser/device metadata. No account ID, calculator inputs or persistent visitor/session identifiers are sent in these events. PostHog does not write analytics cookies or browser storage in cookieless mode.

PostHog uses the incoming request IP address, user agent, hostname and a daily-changing server salt to generate a daily measurement identifier, then discards the IP from the event. This is limited measurement, not a promise that no technical information reaches the provider. It cannot reliably connect visitors across days or devices; visitors on a shared network can also be counted together.

What accepted analytics collects

PostHog receives explicit page and feature-use events, plan and billing-interval choices, browser/device metadata and filtered browser error reports. Signed-in activity can be linked using the public support account ID prefixed by staging or production.

Application filtering removes names, emails, passwords, raw exception messages, calculator costs and prices, secret values, URL queries and record IDs from tracked routes. Session replay, heatmaps, automatic form capture and advertising trackers are disabled.

Essential storage

Authentication/session cookies keep you signed in. A seven-day plan-choice cookie carries your selected plan through signup. Appearance settings are stored in the browser, and a currency cookie remembers your public calculator choice for up to a year. The analytics-choice cookie remembers consent without enabling tracking.

When accepted, PostHog stores analytics identifiers in a host-only cookie and browser-local storage namespace, separated for staging and production, with a 180-day cookie lifetime. Rejecting optional cookies clears those LayerWorth analytics entries on this browser and returns public-page measurement to cookieless mode.

What continues when you reject optional cookies

Security and service logs, authentication, payment processing, verified subscription monitoring and filtered server error reporting continue so the service can operate safely. Server-side feature flags can pause risky operations using account-level identifiers; they do not depend on browser analytics consent.

The marketing-email checkbox in signup and Account / Notification preferences is separate. Allowing analytics does not subscribe you to marketing, and declining does not unsubscribe an existing marketing preference.
